Lewisville, TX, Letter Carrier Devante Lacy (left) received the
PMG Hero Award from Postmaster Thomas Alonzo (right). He spotted an elderly gentleman in distress
while delivering Amazon packages on Sunday. Lacy was next door delivering a package when
he noticed an elderly gentleman laying in the grass near the pavement. The elderly gentleman was in the process of
mowing his lawn and suffered a stroke. With the help of a neighbor, he picked
up the gentleman and took him into his house.
Emergency responders were contacted and the man has made a full
recovery. Lacy remarked, “I enjoy
helping people and having a job where everyone likes you.” He played professional baseball for the St.
Louis Cardinals before becoming a Mail Carrier.
