A message from the District Manager Scott Hooper…

Our Indispensable Role

Over the last month, our organization has been in the news, and I know it’s not easy to read the headlines and not be concerned. Most of us have dedicated our lives and careers to the Postal Service and I believe that we can and will overcome our current challenges and continue to provide secure, reliable, affordable, and universal mail delivery.

The Postal Service recently celebrated its 245th anniversary because it has remained resilient. Many of you remember how we overcame the challenges we faced with anthrax. Recently, when two Post Offices were burned to the ground, during the riots in Minneapolis, MN, our Letter Carriers were out delivering mail the very next day to the customers serviced by those ZIP Codes. Whether we face fires, floods, hurricanes, or a global pandemic, USPS will continue to bind the nation because we are #PostalStrong.

Another reason, I choose to believe that the Postal Service will overcome is because of you, our essential employees. Last year, we delivered 142.6 billion pieces of mail to 159.9 million delivery points and operated more than 31,000 Post Offices. We served 44 million rural delivery points, and for much of rural America, we are often the only delivery option. Throughout the pandemic, you have delivered the medicine, checks and essential supplies that customers need to get through this challenging time. Our customers recognize the crucial role we play, and we have seen the appreciation and “thank you’s” from across the country. For this reason, I am #PostalProud.

The Postal Service is, first and foremost, a family. And as a family, we can and will work together to prove to everyone that we can and will deliver a successful election and peak season. We have delivered for America in the past and we will continue to deliver for America in the future.
