A message from the Acting District Manager Scott Hooper…

Teamwork is Critical to USPS Success

Whether you work in a mail processing plant, a retail unit, or deliver mail, teamwork can have a positive and profound effect on results. Working as a team takes a lot of hard work and many things are required to establish a successful team and positive work environment. For a team to be truly successful, it requires every team member's participation, including showing up for work when scheduled.

Did you ever consider what happens to your co-workers when you take unscheduled leave?  The answer is simple, they have to pick up the slack and absorb the extra workload. When people abuse sick leave, it results in serious consequences for their team. Abuse decreases productivity and efficiency, increases overtime and processing costs, and worst of all, it lowers team morale.

All scheduled employees are needed every day to help their unit run efficiently. When you take unscheduled leave, your work doesn't go away. In order to meet daily expectations, that work will have to be reassigned to your team members. Many times, this can cause your team to miss important deadlines and fail in their mission to meet a critical goal. This disruption can have a ripple effect throughout the USPS ultimately resulting in unsatisfied customers.

To protect your future, it's important to bank your sick leave. It provides great value to you when accidents or unexpected illness strikes, or when you must care for ailing family members. It's important to remember that your team is counting on you and needs you to show up for work. Your contributions are instrumental in helping the Dallas District meet our customers' expectations.
