Alba, TX, Letter Carrier Jan
Stone (right) was presented her 25-year Service Award from Postmaster Barbra
Key (left).
She is married to Johnnie,
her husband of 54 years. They have lived
in Emory all their married lives. They
have two children, a son named Johnnie who is married to Dani. They have two daughters, Aubrey and Braelie. Their daughter Jeannie Hipp is married to Michael. They have five children. Kirbee who was a Rural Carrier in Texas and
Junior President of the Texas
Rural Letter Carriers’ Association,
Karlee who is currently a Rural Carrier in Texas and Junior President of the Texas Rural Letter Carriers’
Association, Kallie, Michael IV, and
Kinsey.
Stone began her career at
Alba in 1986 as a Rural Carrier Associate. At the time she was hired, there was one
regular route and an auxiliary one. Alba
now has three regular routes and auxiliary.
There have been lots of changes and lots of growth during her years of
service.
During Stone’s service with
the Postal Service, she has not only ran her route but also served as Local
Union Steward; an Officer on the Texas Rural Letter Carriers’ Association Board. Stone went to Washington, DC. as a Legislative
Representative citing issues of concern for all Rural Carriers; served as a
Facilitator for Quality of Work Life/Employee Involvement (QWL/EI); she chaired
banquets for Dallas District QWL/EI; served on Joint Steering Committee for
Dallas District; served as Representative for National Rural Letter Carriers’
Association during the New Hire Orientation for Rural Carriers, and served on
District Advisory Committee (DAC) representing Rural Carriers.
Stone’s love for the rural
craft is great, as well as her commitment to her customers on her route. She will tell you that she has over 500
ministries each day on her route. Taking
care of customers is what Rural Carriers do.
Stone has always willingly helped any Rural Carrier needing information.
Another statistic she is very
proud of is the fact that over 25 years of being on her route, she has never
had an at fault accident. Lots of miles
driven each day and she has always came home safely!
