Frisco, TX, Rural Carrier Tyler Smith (below) was recently featured in the Frisco Lakes Neighborhood 15 Newsletter. Tyler Smith has been our mailman for about 5 years. He always has a smile on his face and friendly wave and is a real Texan, being from Houston originally. For two years prior to becoming our usual Letter Carrier, he was a sub and delivered mail wherever he was needed in Frisco. Smith and his wife Jessica have been married over 11 years. He enjoys all sports, especially fantasy football and his favorite foods are pizza, steak, and Mexican food. Smith and Jessica and their family (Haley who is 10, loves horses and painting and is an awesome volleyball and basketball player; and son, Trevor who will be 6 on July 4 enjoys Power Rangers, bull riding, horses and is also an excellent basketball and baseball player) live in Trenton, 25 miles northeast from here. They enjoy the country life, raising chickens, rabbits and hopefully someday goats and other farm animals. As a mailman Smith’s favorite thing to see is a street with no blocked mailboxes. I can only imagine how tricky and time consuming it would be to weave around obstacles. Being a front-line worker, Smith was able to get the COVID vaccine already. He is very glad to have gotten both Moderna shots. According to Wikipedia, the following saying was spoken about 2500 years ago by the Greek historian, Herodotus, “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these courageous couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” and that’s Tyler! When you see Smith on his route – give him a hearty HOWDY now that you know who he is!
