A message from the District Manager Scott Hooper…
Setting a Good Example in the Holiday Homestretch
The term “homestretch” describes that moment in a race when the finish line is in sight – when athletes dig deep to find that extra surge to finish in first place. That’s where the Postal Service is right now – in our holiday homestretch. The next several days will bring continued high volumes of cards, letters and especially packages. The Dallas District is doing all they can to help deliver the holidays and I thank you for your hard work. All employees should strive to set a good example, especially when it comes to safety. Be sure to follow these guidelines:
• Continue wearing your face covering properly, stay away at least six feet away from others, and wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds.
• Stay aware at all times, especially in high-traffic areas, loading docks, and anywhere motorized equipment and vehicles are operating.
• When operating a motor vehicle, follow all safety instructions to avoid rollaway/runaway accidents.
• Be aware of children, pets and others while on the delivery route; holidays mean more people out of school and work and more people in neighborhoods during the day.
Serving our customers is the Postal Service’s mission and we should also set good examples for excellent customer service, including: Saying “No to the Throw,” accurate delivery, and accurate scanning.
Do the right thing, even when no one is looking – Cameras are everywhere today, so keep in mind that you represent the postal brand when delivering, serving customers at the counter or in the lobby, and any time you are on duty. Always assume someone is watching, because they probably are.
This holiday season, let’s all set a good example by putting safety first, as we successfully fulfill our mission of serving our customers. Let’s dig down and find that added effort that puts us over the finish line. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to our customers and to each other. I extend my best wishes to you and your families for a Happy Holiday.

A message from the District Manager Scott Hooper…
A Season of Thankfulness
This is the time of year we begin to reflect on the things for which we are thankful. It has not been an easy year for most of us as we continue to try to work through a pandemic, but on this Thanksgiving Day, I encourage you to focus on the many things for which we are grateful: our family, friends, co-workers, and yes, our jobs. Too often, we get caught up in the feverish pace of everyday life and don’t take the time to appreciate just how fortunate we are. One of the things for which I am most thankful is the incredible spirit of service and commitment shown by Dallas District employees to the communities they serve.
This past month, you provided the timely, accurate and secure delivery of election and political mail and helped ensure every person’s vote counted. Many of you worked extended hours, made extra trips, collections, and deliveries. I want to thank every Dallas employee who played an important and vital role in staying vigilant in identifying, properly handling, and delivering election mail-in ballots.
I also want to thank and recognize our military veterans. A couple of weeks ago, we expressed our gratitude to our veterans who served or continue to serve our nation. We owe them a debt we can never fully repay. Thank you for your service, sacrifice, patriotism, and for your contributions to the Postal Service. Through your work ethic and dedication, many of you serve as leaders and/or role models for employees who are just starting their careers or to those who are more seasoned in the workplace.
Lastly, I appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we head into peak season. Preparations are well under way across the district, including hiring, securing supplemental facilities, formulating transportation routes for our network, planning efficient runs at our plants, and readying our retail units for holiday customers. This is what we do best, it’s our season to shine. Again, thank you for all that you do, and I wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
