TX, Retail Associate Steve Taylor (above) received a customer compliment.
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this in appreciation of an
employee at the Post Office in Commerce. His first name is Steve. He waits on
me each time I go to the Post Office while I am in Commerce. He is helpful and
kind in every way. I want to commend his work. He sets a good example of how
all employees should treat customers. I live in Hurst and travel to Commerce
two to three times a year to visit friends. I always want to go to this office
while I am there to buy stamps and money orders because Steve is so kind. I
truly appreciate Steve’s work ethic. You should be very proud of him.
Sincerely,
Happy
Customer

A message from the District Manager Scott Hooper…
RECOGNIZING AND HANDLING SUSPICIOUS MAIL
To highlight the importance of recognizing and handling suspicious mail, I would like to review the procedures concerning suspicious mail, unknown powders, liquids or substances.
Characteristics to pay special attention to include shape, look, address and packaging.
· Shape. Is it lopsided or uneven? Is it rigid or bulky?
• Look. Are there oily stains, discolorations, or crystals on the wrapper? Does it have a strange odor?
• Address. Is there a return address? Are there restrictive markings? Are there
misspelled words? Is it addressed to a title rather than to an individual? Is it an incorrect title? Is it poorly typed or written?
• Packaging. Is it sealed with tape? Is there excessive tape? Is there excessive postage?
Once a suspicious letter or package has been identified, it is important to respond appropriately.
If a mailpiece seems suspicious, remember the three “P’s” — package, people and plan:
• Package. Don’t handle a suspicious parcel or letter. Leave it where it is and isolate the area.
· People. Clear people from the area and immediately notify a supervisor. Wash hands and other exposed skin with soap and water.
• Plan. Contact your supervisor, who will contact the Inspection Service. Follow your emergency plan. Know who to contact if your supervisor isn’t available.
I would also like to take this time to thank you for your dedication and commitment to our customers during this holiday season. Best wishes to you and your family for a safe and happy holiday.
